Hart Davis Hart September Auction Achieves $13.24 Million in Sales
Exceptional Collections Drive Strong Results Across Burgundy, Bordeaux, California and Beyond
September 28, 2026 — Hart Davis Hart, the internationally renowned wine auction house and retailer, realized an outstanding $13,243,946 in sales with its September Auction of Fine & Rare Wines. The two-day auction attracted 1,044 registered bidders and demonstrated remarkable strength across virtually every major collecting category. One hundred percent of the 2,673 lots offered across September 24 and 25 sold.
The auction’s total hammer was 137% of the aggregate low estimate, underscoring the momentum of the fine wine auction market and HDH’s uniquely large bidding community. Nearly three-quarters of lots hammered at or above their mid-estimate.
An Historic Selection of Château d’Yquem
An Historic Selection of Château d’Yquem from one of America’s Foremost Cellars (lots 1563-1713) soared to record-breaking heights, demonstrating the strength of the market for extraordinary bottles with rarity, impeccable provenance and historical significance. The collection of 151 lots included sixteen vintages from the 19th century and spanned nearly 200 years. From the start the gloves were off: a single bottle of 1812 Château d’Yquem rose to $38,240 before the hammer fell (lot 1563), and an exceedingly rare Marie-Jeanne (2.25L) of 1867 sold for $50,190 after a heated battle (lot 1570). The top lot of the collection, appropriately, was the legendary 1945 “victory” vintage: three gorgeous bottles fetched $83,650 (lot 1611). All told the historic collection achieved more than $1.3 million, more than doubling the pre-sale estimate of $614,050-915,250.
