Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. is excited to announce the largest wine auction to come to market in 2021. This impressive December Auction of Finest & Rarest Wines will be held on Thursday, December 16th and Friday, December 17th beginning at 8:00am ET both days. Online bidding opens this morning and features 3,200+ lots of the greatest wines of the world. Bidders can utilize HDH’s industry-leading bidding platform, available via mobile app or online, to place live and absentee bids.

The Philip Cellar (lots 2056 – 2508) is the kind of monumental cellar that is rarely seen at auction. At $4.7-7.1 million, this is just a portion of a much larger collection, one that HDH has had the honor of representing before. This spectacular group of lots provides bidders an in-depth look into the best that Burgundy has to offer, notably a stunning 83 lots of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and 58 lots of Domaine Leroy. Virtually all of the wines on offer were acquired on release at retail, housed in either a custom-built, temperature- and humidity-controlled home cellar or stored professionally. Burgundy enthusiasts should not miss the opportunity to be just the second owner of these carefully procured wines.

This is truly a momentous auction for Burgundy lovers. A Gentleman’s Library of Rarest Burgundy (lots 284-436) was purchased entirely on release and stored professionally, with an emphasis on some of the great producers of the region, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Dujac, Armand Rousseau and Comte Georges de Vogüé. Every bottle offered on behalf of this consignor would stand as a centerpiece for a great Burgundy collection, and to see them assembled in such quantity is a genuine privilege.

In September, we were thrilled to represent The Cellar of an Effervescent Collector, a longtime collector and dear friend. We are equally excited about this second installment — The Cellar of an Effervescent Collector Part II (lots 1804-2055). A mainstay in the HDH sale room, this consignor brings a vivacious energy to every event they attend, often with a glass of Champagne in hand. Almost every bottle was acquired through HDH, and a very small number were purchased from other highly reputable sources. Bidders should not miss the multiple exceptional lots of full-case Bordeaux in OWC, a stunning array of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and multiple lots of pristine vintage Dom Pérignon, a personal favorite of the collector.

The Straus Family Collection (lots 1-283) has been built over decades, carefully cultivated and stored in an exquisitely built temperature- and humidity-controlled home cellar. The lots on offer represent a deep appreciation for quality and passionate study of all things wine. What is especially remarkable about this offering is the selection of large formats, many in OWC. Imperials, magnums and all formats in between, from first growth Bordeaux to Champagne and the great wines of Italy, any of these prized wines would make for a statement piece in a lucky winner’s cellar.

We want to also bring your attention to Italian Treasures from an East Coast Collector (lots 2590-2848), an expansive selection of the best wines Italy has to offer. This is a small slice of a much larger collection, one that has been built over years of meticulous sourcing and kept in professional storage since purchase. The majority of the lots on offer are in full case OWC or OC, including multiple lots of Masseto, Ornellaia and Sassicaia.

We’re honored to represent these collections and more; some highlights are included below. Place your bids quickly, and be ready to compete in this exceptional auction taking place December 16th and 17th starting at 8:00am ET both days.
