HDH’s Celebration of Burgundy Thunders to $14.6M, 100% Sold
Most Expensive Bottle of Leroy Ever Auctioned Sells for $95,600
Hart Davis Hart’s Celebration of Burgundy shattered records over the course of three days and 3,563 lots, with sales totaling a staggering $14,656,603 and a “white glove” 100% sell-through rate. Pre-sale estimates on this auction were $9,252,351-13,840,261, making A Celebration of Burgundy the sixth consecutive HDH auction where the total hammer exceeded the mid-estimate. 1087 bidders from around the globe placed nearly 22,000 absentee bids valued at over $72M, a stunning show of the sustained appetite for the exceptional collections offered at HDH. The top lot was a single bottle of 2015 Musigny, Domaine Leroy from the Orion Collection (lot 1404), which at $95,600 set an auction record for highest price for a single bottle of Domaine Leroy. The auction took place May 13th-15th, 2026.
The Orion Collection (lots 1277-1502) provided a fireworks show of Leroy and d’Auvenay on Thursday, with the total hammer price for the collection exceeding the high estimate. In addition to the 2015 Musigny, noteworthy world records were set for 2012 Musigny, Domaine Leroy at $41,825 for one bottle (lot 1359), 2014 Corton-Charlemagne, Domaine Leroy at $13,145 for one bottle (lot 1498), and 2017 Puligny, Montrachet, Les Folatières Domaine d’Auvenay at $20,315 for two bottles (lot 1478). All told, the collection achieved $2.3M versus estimates of $1,286,900-1,920,870. Top lots included:

The highly-anticipated Cellar of Don Cornwell sold for $2.9M on Friday, surpassing its pre-sale estimates of $1,860,670-2,784,780 (lots 2622-3293). Bidders clamored for the impressive depths of Hubert Lignier, J.F. Mugnier, Georges Roumier and Armand Rousseau, setting many records in the process. Top lots included (*denotes world record):

A Trove of Marvellous Burgundy (lots 177-646) was Wednesday’s featured collection, and its concentration of hard-to-find producers inspired some of the most spirited bidding of the auction. From René Engel, two bottles of 1985 Clos Vougeot sold for $8,365 (lot 264), three bottles of 1993 Clos Vougeot sold for $7,768 (lot 267), and a single bottle of 1999 Vosne-Romanée, Brûlées sold for $3,107 (lot 272). Always the perfect accompaniment to Burgundy, results for Champagne also impressed throughout the auction. A six-pack of MV Krug, Grande Cuvée, 169th Edition received the most absentee bids of the sale (28), climbing past its estimates to sell for $2,271 (lot 3566). Other top Champagne lots included:
