June Finest and Rarest Auction Achieves $7M, Exceeding High Estimate Fifth Consecutive 100% Sold Auction for HDH
Hart Davis Hart’s June Auction of Finest and Rarest Wines was a fitting finale to a spectacular first half of 2026. 100% of the 1,942 lots sold – the fifth consecutive auction with a 100% sell-through rate at HDH – for a total of $7,018,761. Pre-sale estimates were $4,515,539-6,749,619, marking the seventh HDH auction in a row where the total hammer exceeded the mid-estimate. A 12-bottle 1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Assortment (lot 899) was the top lot of the auction, selling for $83,650, while MV Krug, Grande Cuvée, 171st Édition received 33 absentee bids, the most of any lot in the sale. Six bottles of 1953 Chateau Lafite Rothschild from the collection of former U.S. Ambassador Ron Weiser stunned bidders with a selling price of $50,190 versus pre-sale estimates of $15,000-22,000. The auction took place on Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26.
An Extraordinary Holding of Iconic Monfortino from the European Wine Vault (lots 358-756) represented the most comprehensive offering of Monfortino ever to appear at auction. Bidders heeded the call, setting many world records not just for Giacomo Conterno but for Gaja, Soldera, Roberto Voerzio, and more. Top lots included:

Wines from the Cellar of Former U.S. Ambassador Ron Weiser (lots 1211-1393), offered on Friday with the proceeds benefitting breast cancer research, drew tremendous attention. Estimated at $490,599-733,049, the collection totaled $913,697 after hammering well above high estimate. A highlight of Ambassador Weiser’s June offering was its historic bottlings of Château Montrose. A Vertical Assortment collection including one bottle each of the 1887, 1888 and 1890 vintages roared past its estimates of $2,200-3,200, selling for $14,340 (lot 1226). White Burgundy continued its skyward trajectory, with everything from 1980s Leflaive and Ramonet to 2020s Bernard-Bonin and Paul Pillot setting new record prices.
